Paul Cotton, Executive Vice President, Direct Marketing Division

Paul-CottonAs Executive Vice President of the Direct Marketing Division, Paul Cotton manages the conception and execution of direct marketing programs. He works closely with clients and account teams—directing the creative process, guiding production, and managing the analysis of results and program recommendations—to achieve campaign goals. He also serves as a senior member of Odell Simms, Inc.’s (OSI) Business Development Team.

Since joining the firm in 1992, Paul has created some of the most successful acquisition and renewal direct marketing campaigns in the company’s history. Under his direction, a number of start-up programs quickly and cost effectively grew into campaigns that have generated tens of millions of dollars in net income to support client programs. During his 32 years in direct marketing, Paul has developed programs for more than 100 clients in the nonprofit and commercial arenas, utilizing direct mail, outdoor advertising, telemarketing, and direct response television. These programs have generated more than $300 million in revenue and include membership acquisition and retention, fundraising, subscription development, and product sales.

Prior to joining the firm, Paul worked at two other direct marketing agencies in the Washington, DC area. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Towson University. A second-generation native Washingtonian, Paul resides in Ashburn, Virginia with his wife and their two children.
